I'm trying to use etsviewer on Ubuntu but the GUI looks corrupted under the "Test View/Study View" tabs.
I've attached a screenshot of the problem.

Using Oracle JDK v1.8
Something from the log that could be useful:
L&F In Use : [GTK look and feel - com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel]

Hi,
We have applied a fix to the latest version 4.6. Please download it from https://enthuware.com/etsviewer/etsviewer.jar
We have tested it on Ubuntu with jdk 11 and 15 (not with 8) but it should work on jdk 8 as well.

thank you,
Paul.

Thank you for the update. It does look improved but not 100% yet. I'll try with JDK 11 before giving you a detailed response.

I eventually traced the problem to a "dark-theme". Switching to the default "light-theme" seems to resolve the GUI problems. I think I should rather purchase the web version because I prefer dark mode.

Hmm, I'm not getting the .desktop shortcut to work, even without the theme settings you referred to. This is what it looks like:

Code: Select all

[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Name=Enthuware
GenericName=Java practice tests
Exec=java -jar /absolute/path/to/dir/etsviewer.jar
Path=/absolute/path/to/dir
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Education;
I tried it with and without the Path option

Just to make sure, you have changed this path ,/absolute/path/to/dir/etsviewer.jar , right?

Code: Select all

Exec=java -jar /absolute/path/to/dir/etsviewer.jar
Path=/absolute/path/to/dir

Yes, the actual path is:
/home/stein/Documents/Enthuware/
